David, I’m also a huge fan of PJ Harvey and I thoroughly enjoyed this piece. I recently wrote a piece about her as well and I’d love to get your feedback on it if you have time to read it. Thanks for sharing this essay.

Great piece on Polly! She's like Dylan in her constant mutability. To me, Dry, Rid of Me, To Bring You My Love, and Stories of the City... are the ones that pierce me the most deeply. And an outlier track, "The Desperate Kingdom of Love," pierces me like nothing else. Lately, I've been listening more to the later albums and admiring them on their own terms. She's a genius. We're lucky to be alive in her time.

David, thank you for reading my piece on Polly, and for your response here. I missed the notification so please forgive my delayed response. I agree “The Desperate Kingdom of Love” is an incredible song. I’ve really been enjoying Let England Shake lately. I tend to focus on one album at a time and that’s been my favorite as of late. We are, indeed, lucky to be alive during her time. I believe I’ve seen that she’s in studio working on something new. Fingers crossed that it’s true.
